Maher Feed & Pet Supply - Highland

Maher Feed & Pet Supply - Holly

Welcome to Our Story

Hello to all our Highland Feed Friends!!! This is our first blog so please don't be critical:))) I thought it would be a great idea to have a place where you can check up on us and see our progress.

First and foremost a huge Thank You to all of you!!! Your support has been such a tremendous blessing to all of us. So many kind words spoken to us, dozens of cookies made, so I didn't have that stress on me, meals made, prayers said, the go fund me set up, the square dance benefit, and so much more.

Since our fire on August 2 we have been trying to grasp the reality that is now in front of us. Decisions on what type of store, how big, what about the barn/warehouse are things we think about on a daily basis. We now are in the process of working on the septic permit and talking with different builders!!!

We are still working tirelessly on our inventory and the light at the end of the tunnel is nearing!!! Yeah!!!

Our staff has been amazing through these last months and Mike and I are truly thankful for all of them. I'd like to take time to introduce all of us to you, so if you already know us just feel free to skip this part!!!

Mike Maher: Owner. Well of course I (Debbie) feel like I need more than a few words to describe this wonderful man, probably because he is the most important person in my life!!! With that said he is the heart of Highland Feed. He lives and breaths the store!!! Our fierce leader on August 2 kept us focused on still being a viable retail animal supply store. As we watched our dreams smolder in ashes he kept looking forward. Calling our sales reps from our suppliers and tasking them to get us product in 2 days, and he did it!!!!

Debbie: (Mike's other half) I'm the one that tries to keep the books in order. I love chit chatting with my customers about life and their pets, so lets call me the social butterfly of the store!!! I also have a very important job (that none of the boys will ever do LOL) of baking the cookies for Saturday!!

Brian: Manager and long time friend of our family, basketball coach to our kids through the years and one of the smartest and most valued members of our team. Brian has been managing our day to day operations for us as Debbie and I are working on all aspects of the loss due to the fire and beginning the process of rebuilding. ( A very daunting task) He is also a great dad to his two children and soon to be a great husband to a lovely young lady and step dad to her daughter. We are grateful for him and excited for his future.

Lauren: Manager of our Maher Feed & Pet Supply. She is our middle child and has taken on the role of running our store in Holly while finishing her business degree. Hard working is an understatement in describing her. She has been a 4-H member and raised calves, pigs, chickens, goats and full grown steers. She has two breeding cows on our farm and just recently had one baby (Hazel Mae) to add to her and her dad's collection of animals. She also has her favorite household pets too, her
Charlie (cat) I think is the favorite along with our Lab Gunner and Dorie !!! She tolerates my little dogs but I know where her heart is!! Her love for her animals is huge so be assured she has the knowledge to care for your animals.

Christian, Shannon(Riopelle), and Alex(Riopelle): They are our other children and help out when needed at our store. Christian works at golf course through the summer but will be back here to help in the winter, while attending college for Turf Management. Shannon and Alex recently got married (August) and can be seen on the weekends helping out at one of the stores!! Alex has special holiday duties for the store!!! They both work full time in Troy and Alex is finishing up his degree. As a family owned business they certainly step up when called!!!

Brent: Has been with us for a couple of years and works part time as well as finishing up his degree. He has been a family friend for many years and Mike actually coached him in basketball for a number of years. He works hard at unloading semis, stocking the store and assists with customers. It's great to have him now working with us!!

Johnny: Recently was added to our Highland Feed Family but he was no stranger to our family!! He has been a friend of our sons for years and they both played basketball together in high school. He is also going to college while working. He is hard working on doing our deliveries, loading customers and stocking the store. We call him speedy always cruising at a high speed!!! He also is a great addition to our Highland Feed family!!!

Tara: Just had to include this special girl in our family team. You will see her whenever she is home from college. She has been a family friend for along time and started to work for us when she came in to pick feed up with her mom and we were short staffed and she pitched in. We never let her leave!!! She also has a love for her farm animals. She has been raised with horses and breeding rabbits, as now has a herd of cattle on her farm. She attends Kansas State but when she's home she makes time to work with us!!!

Well that's the Family of Highland Feed!!!

Sorry for the lengthy intros but I guess I'm like a momma bear and just love all my Highland Feed family!!! Now when I blog you'll get a feel for how they are!!!!

I promise not all my blogs will be so lengthy (maybe)!!!

When I get more savvy I'll post pictures but for now I just wanted to get this going!!!
